3 June - Eketahuna Boil Water Notice
EKETĀHUNA WATER SUPPLY, 4:00pm – 3 June 2022
Tararua District Council has issued a precautionary boil water notice for the Eketāhuna water supply. Heavy rain has resulted in the Makakahi River level rising and high turbidity levels.
This is placing pressure on UV system at the water treatment plant, which is not able to treat water to the NZ Drinking Water Standards requirements. While no E.coli has been detected in Eketāhuna’s water, the impact of increased turbidity levels on treatment processes mean complete disinfection of contaminants cannot be guaranteed.
Taumata Arowai have been notified and the team will monitor the situation to determine when Drinking Water Standards requirements are being met and the three days of testing can start.
