Dog safety - roaming dogs
22 April
Wandering and uncontrolled dogs can cause all sorts of problems in our community, including causing a hazard on the
roads, threatening people's safety and being a nuisance to the community.
Loose dog dogs are at risk of being involved in motor vehicle accidents. Losing your mate is bad enough, but did you know
you can also be held liable for damages to vehicles caused by your dog’s wandering?
Please don't assume that your dog just wanders next door and is welcomed by other people; many people are afraid of dogs. It's
normal for dogs to behave differently in unusual or unfamiliar situations, particularly when there are other animals involved.
Securing your dog is a serious responsibility. If your dog is found wandering uncontrolled, your dog will be seized to keep your
dog and the community safe. You may also be issued with a fine.
Now’s a good time to check your property is secure by checking boundary fences for loose palings or gaps to stop your mate
from going walkabout.
