Road works round-up
18 March 2024
The summer construction season is in its last weeks and the road maintenance team at Tararua Alliance is maximising conditions to get the remaining road reseals and rehabilitations finished by the end of March.
In Dannevirke, the completion of the two roundabouts on Queen Street was a milestone last month.
The London Street water main and sewer main replacement is taking slightly longer than anticipated due to changes needed after the pipes were inspected. This work is now expected to be finished on 28 March.
Wastewater renewal work will also be starting in Allardice Street. A fibreglass liner will be fitted inside the existing pipe to extend its lifespan. The work won’t have any impact on services and the road will be open under traffic management. This work is expected to start before Easter.
In Pahiatua, work continues at Princess Street where waters infrastructure is being installed for a social housing development. In rural Pahiatua, there will be some emergency works on Waituna Road at the Thompsons Road intersection, from 2-5 April. On 2 April, Waituna Road from the Thompsons Road intersection to the intersection with Makairo Track will be closed from 9am-3pm. Waituna Road will then be open under Stop/Go.
The roading recovery team and subcontractors are flat out while the weather holds on River Road, Weber Road and Mangaone Valley Road. Behind the scenes, planning is underway for winter works consents.
