Social Wellbeing Group Hui
23 June 2023
Wellbeing issues mentioned in the recent Tararua Cyclone Impact Assessment Survey and what organisations can do to help were discussed at the inaugural Social Recovery Wellbeing Group meeting on last Monday.
Issues included burnout/exhaustion, stress, loss of income due to physical connectivity and access, wait times for health/doctors’ appointments, tax/accounting advice, community support/community wellbeing and community and individual resilience.
The aim of this group is to ‘work collaboratively to plan and deliver services and programmes for people and communities impacted by Cyclone Gabrielle’, Social Recovery Lead Toni Chapman says.
The group is made up of different organisations throughout the district including Tararua REAP, Rural Support Trust, Sport Manawatu, Rangitane o Tamaki Nui-a-Rua, Ngati Kahungunu ki Tamaki nui-a-Rua, Tararua Health Group, Tararua Community Services, NZ Police and DIA, along with the Social Recovery Lead.
