FENZ have advised that the weather forecast for Ahuriri Heretaunga, Central Hawke's Bay and northern areas of the Tararua District will increase the risk of EXTREME FIRE CONDITIONS over the period of 9 to 11 January.

Warmer conditions, wind gusts and low humidity mean that the wildfire risk is elevated.

FENZ advise all property owners to take the following precautions to keep themselves and their properties safe:

• Minimise anything that could create a spark
• Keep your grass short - clean dead leaves and debris from gutters and decks.
• Keep your driveway clear of trees and hedges for trucks (at least 4m x 4m clearance)
• If you have a RAPID property number, make sure the RAPID number is easy for emergency services to see it
• If you see smoke call 111
