Published 20 May 2022
The recent heavy rainfall has put the Makakahi River in flood and the river flow is still increasing.
You can view the level of the river here.

Turbidity levels are currently too high for the water to be treated – no water is therefore entering the reservoir at the moment.
A limited number of 1.5 litre bottles of drinking water are currently available at Customer Services in Eketāhuna until 4:30pm today for residents to collect. It will be one bottle per person only.
A reminder to all Eketāhuna residents that the current precautionary Boil Water Notice is still in effect.
The river flow will be monitored over the weekend and as soon as we are able, we will restock the reservoir.
The water tank behind the fire station, located at 3 Bengston Street, is still available for drinking water.
