Dannevirke Town Hall looking spick and span
5 May 2026
The Dannevirke Town Hall has officially unveiled its refreshed exterior, following the completion of a major repaint project that began in January. This is the first full exterior repaint the building has received in around 20 years, and the update brings new life to one of Dannevirke’s most iconic landmarks.
The project included repainting the Town Hall’s exterior walls and roof, as well as the nearby public toilet block. Colours and finishes were selected with guidance from Heritage New Zealand to ensure the building’s historic character was respected and enhanced. The main colour used was Dulux Dannevirke – named after the town itself, with the roof colour being Dulux Taihape.
The fresh paintwork will help protect the building from weathering and extend the life of the exterior surfaces. As a key community facility, the Town Hall now has a renewed appearance that reflects its heritage value and importance to the district.
Council would like to thank Martin Beveridge Ltd who carried out the work. We’d also like to thank everyone for their support and understanding during the paint job, including the road closures and footpath diversions, and extend a special thanks to nearby businesses for their patience during this time.
