Representative Fund Recipient: Magnum Dance Troupe
Firmly believing that dance is a powerful art form that brings people together while inspiring audiences, the Magnum Dance Troupe is a 2023 Representative Fund Recipient and shared their experience today with Council.
After attending the National HipHop Competition in Hamilton and being awarded 2nd, the Magnum Dance Troupe had lots to prepare for when they set their sights on the World Supremacy Battlegrounds in Sydney. Determined to represent the Manawatū District and New Zealand, the troupe partnered with local businesses, volunteered at local events and applied for the Representative Fund through the MDC all to help cover the costs of 19 dancers travelling to Sydney to compete.
Having returned from Sydney after placing 2nd in their division, the group shared their experiences with Council today, before focusing on their upcoming competition in Singapore this January. Firmly believing that dance is a powerful art form that brings people together while inspiring audiences, the Magnum Dance Troupe is looking to organise a public workshop as a way of sharing their passion to the community and a way to say thank you for the support they have received to reach their hip-hop success.
