A signing ceremony was held at Recreational Services on Monday, 3 July, to mark the signing of the contract with representatives from Council, Recreational Services and the wider community in attendance.

Council’s General manager – Community, Lyn Daly, says that the feedback that Council had received from residents showed how much the work that Recreational Services does is appreciated.

“The mahi that Recreational Services does makes people feel good, and as a contractor they have delivered strongly for us. We consistently receive positive  comments from people about the beautification work in our town and greenspaces, keeping our sportsgrounds in great condition, and ensuring our public conveniences are clean and safe to use. These are tangible things that the public see, and their track record of delivering for us and the community gave us confidence that signing this renewal was the right thing to do”.

Council’s Community Assets Manager Carl Johnstone says that the recommendation that Council renew the contract was unanimously supported by Councillors, with some saying that the initial contracting of Recreational Service was one of the best decisions that Council has made.

“They are our eyes and ears on the ground, and often they’re the face of Council as well. We get positive feedback about how Recreational Services interact with people, and their willingness to get things done. We appreciate the ideas and innovation that they also bring to us, and we have a good working relationship to make a lot of these ideas happen,” says Carl.

Ed Hadfield of Recreational Services says that the signing of the contract with Council is a special achievement, and the confidence that Council has in their abilities and the staff is appreciated.

“We are incredibly grateful to our amazing team members, whose expertise and passion have been instrumental in securing this contract, this win is a testament to their hard work, commitment, and unwavering dedication to providing top-notch services,” says Ed.
