We are a team here at MDC and any loss that has an impact on our staff or elected members is deeply felt by all of us here. We will do whatever we can to support Helen and her family through this difficult time. Deputy Mayor Michael Ford is fulfilling the Mayoral duties in Mayor Helen’s absence.

“Neil has been a most respected farmer and family man, and a thoroughly nice bloke. He has supported Mayor Helen and provided a ton of practical assistance to Helen when she was organising events when Manager of Feilding Promotion. He will be greatly missed by Helen, his family, friends, and the community. Everyone at Manawatū District Council is very saddened and are supporting Mayor Helen as best they can,” says Deputy Mayor Michael.

As per the family’s wishes, Neil’s funeral will be a private service for family only. If you wish to send a letter or message of condolence to Mayor Helen, please feel free to send it to us at council and we’ll ensure that these get passed on to her at the appropriate time.
