Feilding Water Update

The fantastic weather that we’ve experienced this summer has seen the demand for Feilding’s water increase.

To help the Council’s Three Waters team keep the water flowing, we’re asking residents to think about their water use and maybe look at a few simple things to reduce any unnecessary waste. These can include:

1. Only run your taps when needed.
2. Perhaps wait until you have a full washing machine and dishwasher before turning them on?
3. Does that garden or lawn really need to be watered again?
4. Does your toilet have a half flush button for code yellow?
5. Maybe a few shorter showers?

We’re aware of some residents who have noticed a change in taste in water recently. This is due to the fact that the Ōroua River levels are low and so we shutdown the Almadale Water Treatment Plant for a period of time, which meant that we were pulling more water from our bores and bore water does taste slightly different.

Almadale is back up and running again and Feilding’s water is regularly tested to ensure that it is safe and compliant with drinking water standards.
