Local Rick Miles' Handcrafted Racing Replicas

Local machinist Rick Miles is showcasing his stunning collection of handcrafted miniature racing cars and engines at Manawatū Community Hub Libraries (MCHL). This is the latest exhibition in the community hub’s black display cabinets at Te Āhuru Mōwai, located in both the adult's fiction area and children’s area.

Rick, a Feilding resident spends his retirement crafting detailed replicas of motorbikes, vintage cars, hot rods, engines, and racing cars in his workshop. Featured models in the current display include the McLaren F22, Jaguar 3.8, and Begg 018. Each model is meticulously handmade, with Rick crafting every part himself. A process that can take up to three months per model.

With 120 replicas created, Rick’s work reflects his 20 years of experience in welding and engineering, which he brings to his hobby. “It’s a lot of work, but I love every moment spent building,” Rick shared.

The display will be available for viewing for 10 weeks, after which a new collection will take its place. MCHL encourages locals of all ages to share their passions, whether it’s a collection, craft, or unique items.

Anyone interested in exhibiting their work can contact MCHL staff at the front counter or via email at mchl.bookings@mdc.govt.nz

Rick Miles' collection offers a glimpse into the world of miniature craftsmanship and is just the first of many exciting exhibits to come at MCHL. Don't miss this opportunity to appreciate the intricate detail of Rick's work and explore the creativity of your fellow community member.
