Star Wars Day

Celebrate May the Fourth in style with Manawatū Community Hub Libraries on Sunday, May 4th, from 10:00am to 1:00pm at Te Āhuru Mōwai, 64 Stafford Street, Feilding. A range of exciting activities for all ages. Whether you're a fan of lightsabers, crafting, or just enjoy the Star Wars universe, there's something for everyone to enjoy throughout the day.

Snap a photo with a Stormtrooper and a Jawa from Outpost 42. Props will be available for the perfect Star Wars themed photo opportunity. For those looking to bring home a piece of the galaxy far, far away, Star Wars themed merchandise will be available for purchase throughout the event.

Come dressed in your best Star Wars costume, and you might just win a spot prize!

Event Activities:

  • Lightsaber Earrings Workshop
    A creative activity from 10:00am to 11:00am, you can make your very own pair of beaded lightsaber earrings for just $5. Limited to 25 spaces, so be sure to book in advance through the provided ticket link.   • Tote Bag / Pillowcase Customisation Workshop
    Get crafty and personalise your own tote bag or pillowcase by sublimating a Star Wars design. This workshop runs from 11:30am to 1:00pm and costs $12. Tickets are available on the day, so stop by and unleash your creativity with these fun, practical items.
  • Palmerston North Knights Lightsaber Group Training Sessions
    If you’ve ever wanted to learn the art of lightsaber combat, this is your chance. The Palmerston North Knights Lightsaber Group will be offering training sessions from 10:15am to 11:15am. This exciting session is free and will teach you some basic combat moves with the iconic lightsaber.
  • VR Lightsaber Dojo
    Take your lightsaber skills to the next level with virtual reality. The VR Lightsaber Dojo offers free VR combat sessions throughout the day, allowing you to practice your skills and fight against opponents in an immersive Star Wars environment.
  • Badge Making
    For a small gold coin donation, you can create your very own Star Wars badge. This activity is perfect for those looking to take home a fun and personal souvenir from the event.
  • Laser-Cut Acrylic Coasters
    For a small fee of $5 per coaster, make your own Star Wars-themed laser-cut acrylic coasters using an innovative laser-cutting machine. These coasters will make a perfect addition to your collection or a gift.
  • Lego Race
    Put your Lego-building skills to the test. This free activity challenges you to complete a Lego set as quickly as possible, and the fastest builder gets to take home their completed set.
  • Character Lantern Craft
    Create a lantern featuring a classic Star Wars character. This free activity will be available throughout the event, so stop by and craft your own unique lantern to take home.
  • Lightsaber Craft
    Make your very own lightsaber! This free craft activity from 11:30am to 1:00pm, gives you the chance to build your personalised lightsaber, which you can take home.
  • Scavenger Hunt
    For a bit of fun and adventure, participate in the Scavenger Hunt. Search the library to find all the hidden droids scattered around and claim a small prize once you’ve spotted them all.
  • Star Wars Raffle
    For just $2 a ticket, you can enter the Star Wars Raffle and have a chance to win a special Star Wars-themed prize pack.
