Consulting Iwi for Resource Consents

Rangitāne o Tamaki nui-ā-Rua and Ngāti Kahungunu ki Tāmaki-nui-a-Rua are the iwi of the Tararua District. Consultation with both iwi prior to lodging your resource consent is one way to help ensure it is processed efficiently.

Rangitāne o Tamaki nui-ā-Rua have a statutory acknowledgement in place which includes Manawatu River and Akitio River and their tributaries. Council must have regard to this statutory acknowledgement when considering whether there are any affected persons when processing a resource consent application.

For applications involving earthworks or quarrying it is strongly recommended that you consult both iwi prior to lodging your application with Council.

Early consultation with both iwi prior to lodging a resource consent application is therefore imperative to help ensure efficient processing of your application.
