Christmas Workshops Unboxed!
Ginger spice and all things nice! Christmas is coming early for Manawatū Community Hub Libraries (MCHL). This year, the magic of the season is being baked up with a sprinkle of creativity and a dash of festive fun. The MCHL team have been busy cooking up a delightful programme of Christmas workshops to get the community in the holiday spirit and they are so excited, they couldn’t help but unbox it early.
Programmes Leader Marie Willis and Programmes Assistant Lydia Smith have turned their enthusiasm into an event all its own, complete with a gingerbread house unboxing and library display to mark the launch. The pair have collaborated with talented local artists, and small businesses to offer a variety of festive workshops designed to inspire creativity, and a touch of Christmas.
Among the experiences on offer is a Christmas Wreath Workshop with Sara from Garden Flowers by Sara, where participants can craft a rustic, modern wreath using dried items and foliage. For those drawn to sparkle and colour, the Glass Fusion Workshop Christmas Ornaments with Serena from 3D Glass Art will introduce the basics of glass fusion, guiding attendees to create two unique ornaments. The sweet scent of Christmas fills the air at the Gingerbread House Decorating Evening with the team from Master of Gingerbread, where guests can decorate a medium-sized gingerbread house with icing, lollies, and festive cheer. Finally, the Embroidery Christmas Stocking Workshop with Lilly from LSEmbroidery offers a chance to learn the art of embroidering a name onto a knitted Christmas stocking.
So, this festive season, trade tinsel for thread, icing, and glass, and make something truly special. Whether it’s a handcrafted wreath, unique ornaments, or a sugar-coated masterpiece, these workshops are all about creating memories and keepsakes this season.
