Māori Ward

The Local Electoral Act 2001 provides for the establishment of Māori Ward(s).

In May 2021 the Council resolved to establish a Māori Ward in the Manawatū District for electoral purposes.

Voters enrolled on the Māori Electoral Roll will be able to vote for their choice of candidate for Council standing for election in the Māori Ward at the October 2022 Council elections.
