NZ Clean Up Week: It’s Time to Roll Up Our Sleeves and Do Our Bit

In true spring fashion – it's clean up time! The countdown has begun until it’s NZ Clean Up Week. From Friday 19 September through to Thursday 25 September, thousands of tidy kiwis will be participating in New Zealand Clean Up Week.

NZ Clean Up Week (19 – 25 September) encourages communities to clean up litter, look after our land and do our bit to conserve our beautiful country. Keep Feilding Beautiful (KFB) are once again leading the week long event for the Manawatū District with support from the Manawatū District Council (MDC).

This year, MDC’s Waste Minimisation team are providing registered groups the opportunity to drop off their collected rubbish for free! Community groups, families, individuals and businesses can register through the online form on Council’s website (linked), advising of the location they plan to clean up. On the same day of collection, registered clean-up crews can drop off their rubbish at Feilding Resource Recovery Centre free of charge!

Giving our land, parks and reserves some extra love is a wonderful way to give back to the community and Council is excited to once again welcome the technicians from Vestas.  These wind turbine and sustainable energy experts became last year’s rubbish collection superstars as they gifted a day to the Manawatū District.  At the end of their collection day, their trailer was sadly overflowing from litter bugs leaving everything from chippy packets to furniture.  This hasn’t deterred the Vestas team who are eager to participate again this year – thanks Vestas!

Whether you are collecting solo, or making it a competitive scavenger hunt between friends, it’s best to register in advance using the online form on MDC’s website: NZ Clean Up Week | Manawatū District Council
