In response to your questions, below, we have not received any applications under your questions 1, 2 or 3.
The Manawatu District Plan permits farming as an activity in the Rural Zone. Chicken farming is included as part of the definition of farming, unless it falls within the definition of ‘intensive farming’.
In the last 12 months, Council has received no applications for intensive farming, or poultry farming specifically.
There are occasions where Council has communicated with parties regarding intended extensions to poultry farms – but these have not resulted in the need to obtain a resource consent.
Where structures have been proposed, a building consent may have been required.
Building consents do not require specific use of the shed to be noted and unless the use, ie chicken farming, is mentioned during the course of the building consent process we would not know the intended use.
We do have four historic permits, dating from 1984 to 2016.
