Celebrating the heart of community service
At Volunteer Central’s recent recognition ceremony, five exceptional individuals and one outstanding business from the Manawatū region were honoured for their extraordinary contributions to the community.
From organising events and pioneering local festivals, to handling desk duties and managing inventory, the recipients represented a diverse cross-section of volunteer service. What united them all was a deep sense of social responsibility, unwavering dedication, and a shared commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of others.
One of the morning’s standout moments was the recognition of Central Demolition, whose nominators praised the company’s significant contribution to Hockey Manawatū. In the lead-up to the National Hockey Championship — which drew over 1,200 players — Central Demolition donated both materials and workmanship to refurbish the Hockey Manawatū pavilions and turf facilities. The result was not just improved infrastructure, but a strong sense of pride for the organisation as they welcomed teams from across the country.
