Gambling Venues Policy

Manawatū District Council has concluded the review of the Gambling Venues Policy and has voted to retain the current cap of 90 gambling machines throughout the District.

This decision follows a thorough review of feedback from submitters, and consideration of community needs and the social impacts of gambling.

As part of its commitment to ensuring a safe, responsible, and well-regulated environment for all residents, the council has determined that no alterations will be made to the existing Gambling Venues Policy, which is designed to balance economic growth, public safety, and responsible gambling practices.

As the number of machines remains the same, Council is confident there will not be any increase in adverse social impacts, and likewise there will be no change to the amount of grant funding available to charities, community and sporting groups who rely on this funding.

Council thanks those who took the time to make a submission and those that took the time to speak to their submissions.
